Sadly, the truth is, so many children do not have these basic rights and suffer in silence with no hope of help.
Our purpose at Khulisa Abantwana is simple;
We provide the vital support lacking for disadvantaged children to give them the bright futures they too deserve.
In order to achieve our goals, we have chosen to focus our efforts on a few child support services in Du Noon, our local disadvantaged township.
What began as supporting one primary school, one special needs school, and one nursery school has grown into something far greater. Today, Khulisa Abantwana supports two of the three primary schools in Dunoon, the local special needs school, and six educare centres, reaching hundreds of vulnerable children each year.
Our mission is to support and uplift the underprivileged children of Dunoon by providing opportunities, resources, and safe spaces where they can learn, grow, and thrive. We believe that every child deserves access to experiences that build confidence, develop essential life skills, and inspire hope for the future.
Through initiatives such as swimming and water safety programmes, we equip children with a potentially life-saving skill while simultaneously supporting the development of gross and fine motor skills, confidence, resilience, and overall wellbeing. We are also working to create safe and engaging play areas where children can simply enjoy being children while learning, exploring, and developing physically and socially.

A key part of our vision is to expose the children of Dunoon to the many exciting career paths, educational opportunities, and life experiences available to them, providing them with opportunities they may never otherwise encounter. By connecting children with positive role models, mentors, sports programmes, and skills development initiatives, we hope to broaden horizons and create pathways to brighter futures.
At its heart, Khulisa Abantwana is about bringing communities together. We believe that when we invest in children, we invest in a stronger, more connected, and more hopeful future for everyone. Our work is for anyone who wants to be part of meaningful change.
As a volunteer-led organisation, every donation goes directly towards supporting the children and programmes we serve. There are no hidden costs, your contribution goes where it is needed most, helping us create opportunities, restore hope, and change lives.
In 2024, Cindy, a local mommy, fed up with seeing so much suffering in her town, decided to visit Du Noon and go and talk to some of the local nurseries and schools, to see what they need and how she could help.
What Cindy witnessed changed her life. The ladies she met that day, who look after the children of Du Noon are just the most incredible humans! All these women go over and beyond their duties to their children, by investing their own time, money and love into providing the support these children deserve. Each place was utilising the resources they had to the best of their abilities, but without any support for them, struggled to provide their children with much of the basic support they deserve.
